Our Vision is to build a new Community Centre to replace the present St Mark’s Hall. The new building will be a modern, multi-function Hall, available for all local community activitues, including Church worship.

Why we need a new building?

St Mark’s Hall is a dual-use, pre-fabricated building, erected in 1956.  Like many pre-fabricated buildings of the post war period, it was not expected to have a lifetime of more than 25 to 30 years.

History of the Project

This project began in 2012 with a feasibility study to identify user group requirements, experience from other local community centres, likely building costs and possible sources of finance.  An interim report was presented to the Annual Parish Meeting in May 2013 and a Final Report was published in September 2013.

More than a dozen community groups rely on St Mark’s Hall for their regular activities.

Our Plan

Our overall plan is to start building the new centre in 2021 and we estimate that the build process will take approximately ten months.

Our Design

Our design concept makes the best use of this small but unique site.  It provides for a two story building with a main hall seating up to 120 people, plus a separate room for 40 people.
